Projecting, Scanning, and Printing.

Recenlty, Nicole Steffen and Trevor Dobias gave us some insight into the printer, scanner, and projector/document reader that we use in the senior lab.

Projecting
The projector and document reader has been a tricky device since sophomore year. No one ever really knew how to work it very well or what buttons meant what. Nicole and Trevor really helped us to realize, it’s not really that difficult to use, once you know what everything does of course. The projector/document reader is quite helpful during presentations to allow users to see what you have on your computer or to show a printed document large enough for everyone to see. You can even play movies from a DVD.

Scanning
I also learned that we really have a very nice scanner. It can scan in documents from paper like most scanners but it also has the ability to scan negatives and slides. What’s even better, you can scan multiple images or documents at once (whatever can fit on the scanner) and it will find them and select them individually so you don’t have scan one at a time. This is extremely tedious and yes, I know from experience. I scanned this negative of a photo I took of some friends in my accounting class my senior year of high school.

Printing
We learned a lot about the printer as well. In addition to printing like any other printer that are some really helpful features to the one that we get to use. One useful feature is being able to go to printer’s IP address and see it’s status. Here you can who has been printing, the names of the documents being printed, when it was printed, etc. Another great feature of the printer is it’s amazing ability to print double sided documents. The registration is almost perfect,  which truly is a feat since even the Staples in town can’t print double sided as well as this printer.

After learning all of this great information about the devices in our lab, I will definitely be taking advantage of my new found knowledge and all of the helpful features.
