In class today, classmate Jonathan Bergmann taught us about the tool FontStruct and how it could be beneficial to us. FontStruct is an online tool where you can create your own fonts pixel by pixel. You create the font using “bricks” which there are actually quite a large variety of. Once you are satisfied and have created all of the letters you need for your alphabet, you can export it as a .ttf (true type font) which allows you to use it on both mac and pc computers. All you need to do is add the file to your library and you’re ready to type away. I think this will be a very beneficial program to use if I ever need to create my own typeface for a headline or some other display type. It may even come in handy for creating a unique wordmark.
The typeface I created is called “tails”, it’s a sans serif. The lowercase “u” is shown above.
